Why Boot Camps are a Waste of Your Time and Money

Boot-Camps-Waste-of-your-time

It seems there are new fitness boot camps starting up every day with promises to kick-start your metabolism and turn you into a fat-burning machine. I have never been a huge fan of boot camp training but I can see why it appeals to some. For one, it’s cheap…you can get a decent workout for about $20. Secondly, it can be motivational. Working out with a large group of people allows for a competitive environment which might lead you to push each other…but that’s about it.

My biggest problem lies with trainers who compare their boot camp classes to private one-on-one training, promising “drastic changes at a fraction of the cost of a personal trainer”…seriously??

There is an enormous difference between boot camps and one-on-one training, the biggest being the results. How can a trainer properly monitor a large group of participants from different backgrounds with different strengths all at once?

There is no way they will be able to correct form, gauge intensity and regulate each individuals performance. What you are left with is a generic exercise routine (a poor one at that) performed to the tune of a shouting trainer playing the role of “drill instructor”. You’d be better off saving your money and doing some interval training on your own.

If you do require assistance, are in need of instruction and really want to get the best results…invest in a Bfit/Personal trainer. Sure the cost may be greater but you will have a fitness program tailored specifically to your needs as well as proper supervision when performing the workout. I will always make sure you receive the attention needed in order to safely perform all the exercises.
